Awesome...
exciting... and well worth the trip! After flying over all the way
from Germany to see Dan live with three solo/acoustic shows in the
past few years, this was my first chance of seeing him perform with
a band (other than on video), and I was quite excited by the time
Tuesday, May 28 had finally come around.
And what a blast it was: Opening night of the tour at the beautiful
(and sold-out) Bass Hall right in Downtown Ft. Worth. We got to hear
the full 23-song setlist, including a wonderful version of "Forefathers"
and an extended solo-acoustic set. The band added a lot of magic to
the shows, and there were some beautiful vocals bridges (like on "Magic
Every Moment", the opening number) or some great harmonies on
classics like "Run For the Roses" or "Part of the Plan".
Both Dan´s vocals and the acoustics in the hall were outstanding,
and having his new wife Jean singing harmony vocals on the secod encore,
George Harrison´s "If I Need Someone" was a special
treat as well. Throughout the show, Dan seemed very much at ease with
himself and the band (and very funny talking about the real history
behind "Old Tennessee" and while introducing his very fine
band), five standing ovations were a just reward for what has been
the best (and at 2.5 hours longest) DF concert I´ve been to
so far! ~ Christian
The Concert was
Awesome....Incredible...More than I could have wished for. Saw Dan
in Fort Worth on Tuesday night. He played almost all classics, from
many albums. Highlights were a tribute to his first album, "Home
Free", a piano solo of "Same Old Lang Syne", and gorgeous
"Run for the Roses". His talking was fun, very personal
and conversational and just enough. Two curtain calls and I lost count
of standing ovations...5? 6? Several during the performance. Well
worth the money, time and whatever else it takes to get there. Thanks
Mr. Fogelberg. ~ Jerri J.

I have attended
and enjoyed (an understatement) every Dallas/Ft. Worth concert Dan
Fogelberg has performed since 1974! The 30-Year concert tour kick-off
at The Bass Performance Hall in Ft. Worth, TX on Tuesday, 05/28/02
was no exception. The concert was unbelievable and he received at
least 5 standing ovations. Dan and the band concluded the second encore
with a George Harrison song in which Dan's wife came on stage and
played the tambourine. ~ Nancy
Oh
my gosh!!!! Dan at the Bass Performance Hall!!! What a great concert!
I loved the simple setting and the song sets. I felt like it was just
me and him with the most amazing sound system ever made! I am so glad
he is playing the smaller venues and Fort Worth. I have seen him here
the last three times. I hope his voice recovers. He sounded a little
hoarse but what a voice! It was great to see his new wife during the
2nd encore. Dan - keep up the great work! I would love to hear some
new stuff!!! ~ Jennifer
In case nobody has e-mailed you about how great last night's concert
at Bass Hall was, let me do it. It was wonderful! I took my sister
(also a 25-year Dan fan) as a early birthday gift to her and we both
thought it was the best Dan concert we had seen. I've been to around
7 & she's been to 3 or 4. We also agreed that he looked great
-- we could tell, even though we were in the balcony. We had good
seats, center stage in the balcony. At Bass Hall there really aren't
any bad seats. I didn't bring binoculars, so Dan looked really good
to me. He rocked like a 20-year old, but did have slight difficulty
reaching the high notes from songs written 20-30 years ago. If he
knew he would be singing these songs 30 years later, he might have
written the notes a little lower<grin>. I
The crowd was the usual, people from their 20s to their 60s. I even
saw a man with his 10-year-old son (I brought my boys up on Dan, too).
Everyone is mature and laid back. I heard some women (or maybe it
was just the one over and over again) shouting, "we love you
Dan." And just as many guys screaming with enthusiasm. Some people
think Dan is just a chick musician, but I beg to differ (can I hear
from the men out there who like Dan?). I'd love to hear from those
of you who attend any of his other concerts this summer, to compare.
Dan was in his usual good humor -- he's very witty. He was really
thankful to the fans for being so kind, heck we weren't faking it,
we really had a great time! I know this is very long, but I just had
to share. He played for over two hours, closer to two and a half,
we really got our money's worth. ~

We saw Dan on opening night
at Bass Hall in Fort Worth TX and we all agreed that it was the "BEST"
performance of Dan's we had seen in all the years (first time in 1976)
we've loved him. His voice was strong and clear and his song list
covered his entire career. It was very obvious that he was enjoying
himself almost as much as his fans were!!! Of course there were some
songs he didn't choose to perform that were missed but if you are
a true "Dan Fan" all his tunes are "your favorite"!!!
A very satisfying and moving night!!! Can't wait for next time!!!!!!

Attended the
Ft. Worth concert and thoroughly enjoyed it. Dan Fogelberg has written
some beautiful music and hearing it takes me back to my childhood
years. My only disappointment was that Dan didn't play the song "Longer"
-- my wife and I had it sung at our wedding and would have loved to
hear Dan perform it live. Oh well, maybe next time around. ~ Phillip

It was really wonderful to have Dan back on tour in our part of the
USA this year. Even with the technical glitches, the show was great.
I was sitting in the second row and could hear comments made among
the band members. They just seemed to roll with the punches and had
a great time playing together. I really loved the selection of songs.
There was a little bit of everything that Dan does and the atmosphere
was jolly. I heard so many of my favorite songs. It was nice to see
the spotlight shining on the other band members for a moment, also.
Having Dan's wife join in the last encore was a nice surprise. I went
backstage after the show and saw the camaraderie that exists between
the band members so that made it even more special. They truly love
making music together. It was a wonderful evening. ~ Jan
Great show. It
was great to hear Dan with a band again. The Bass Performance Hall
is a tremendous venue. If you live anywhere near Ft. Worth and one
of your favorite artists is appearing there I would strongly urge
you to get tickets to the show there. It's one of those European opera
style halls with fantastic acoustics. The venue complimented the talent
on the stage. One of the highlights "To the Morning" from
Home Free. I have heard him do this before but never this good.
His voice soared and his piano playing was superb. Of course as usual,
(I've seen him 6 times) his guitar playing was exceptional. Maybe
it was the venue or maybe he's improved on the piano. I've never heard
him play with so much emotion and skill. He is truly one of the most
underrated performers out there. He is known for his ballads which
are great, but this tends to obscure the fact that he is one of the
most talented guitarists around. He did a tribute song to George Harrison
which was new to his show and closed with "There's a place in
the world for a gambler". My wife and I believe he should join
the Eagles (take over for Don Felder). What a great way to reenergize
his career and think of the wonderful harmonies if he could sing with
them. We were lucky enough to catch him on the tour he did with Timothy
B. Schmidt. The band this time around was good, but his harmonies
with Schmidt were outstanding. ~ David
I've seen Dan
in concert probably 10 times over the years - some with his band and
some solo. I can honestly say that he sounds just as good today as
he did at the first show I sam him back in the early 80s. I thought
this show was extremely well put together. The Acoustic band set was
fabulous - it was great to hear some of the old songs like "Changing
Horses", "To the Morning", and "Morning Sky".
Then his solo acoustic set which is always good. The Rock-n-Roll set
finished out a perfect evening. His tribute to George Harrison as
his second encore gave me a greater feeling of how united most of
the musical artists are. Dan Fogelberg had one of the greatest musicl
influences on me. I learned to play guitar in the middle 70s and I
emulated him as he grew as an artist. I don't understand his open
string tuning but his picking and general music style have totally
influenced me as an "amateur" picker. I thank him for not
even knowing he influenced me. ~ Carl
